Thanksgiving dinner scraps are not good for your pets

My daughter Ella loves to feed our dog Mitch. Yes it is her job to fill his bowl with food twice a day, but I'm talking about our food. If there's something on her plate she doesn't want, she sneaks it to Mitch. If she's full an can't eat her peanut butter sandwich- guess who gets the rest? My husband is just as bad….if he has a little yogurt or ice cream left over, Mitch gets to clean the cup or dish. This is why I was not shocked when his last trip to the vet resulted in a chat about putting Mitch on a "diet".

We all love to share with our furry friends and a little treat here or there isn't terrible…depending on what it is. Most people know chocolate is toxic for dogs, along with grapes and alcohol, but what about some Thanksgiving dinner treats? They may seem harmless but there are several foods we use in our Thanksgiving meals that can do some serious damage to our pets, including ham and mashed potatoes.
Here is the complete story.
