Northern Michigan Regional Hospital presents “Cancer Survivorship and Wellness” offers education and support to cancer patients and their family members. Sessions will focus on living well with a cancer diagnosis, as well as learning skills for the promotion of physical and emotional well-being. Attendance at all four sessions is highly recommended. Family members or caregivers are also welcome to attend. This group is designed to allow people who are living through any cancer diagnosis to come together and speak about their journeys. Plunge at 12:00 p.m. at Burt Lake

The annual Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) Polar Plunge series is known for its zany costumes and courageous participants. After raising funds, these participants dress up in costume and prepare to plunge, ready to jump in and freeze their fur for a good cause. Funds can be raised by collecting donations from friends, family, co-workers and neighbors.

Proceeds from these plunges help supports year-round sports training and athletic competition for more than 20,670 children and adults with intellectual disabilities in Michigan.

The series of Polar Plunges is made possible by the Law Enforcement Torch Run, a group of law enforcement officers and corrections department employees throughout the state who are committed to raising funds and awareness for Special Olympics Michigan Athletes.

Join Lite 96.3 at the Fur Ball


Join Lite 96.3 as we dance the winter blues away at the Little Traverse Bay Humane Society Fur Ball Blues Benefit. The benefit will take place in conjunction with the Petoskey Winter Blues Festival. The Fur Ball Blues Benefit will take place from 7-11 pm on Friday, February 24, 2012, at Stafford’s Perry Hotel in Petoskey. Enjoy music by Jelly Roll Blues Band, hors d’oeuvres, and a cash bar. Attire is dressy casual. The cost to participate is $35 per person. Shoeshoe Through the Woods for the Dogs


Snow Shoe for Little Traverse Bay Humane Society

Grab your snowshoes and your furry four-legged friend for a picturesque walk with Little Traverse Bay Humane Society. The PB&J Furry Friend Snowshoe Benefit will take place from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at PB&J Farm, located just north of Stutsmanville Road at 2101 Welsheimer Road in Harbor Springs. Snowshoe routes range in distance from approximately a half a mile to five miles and vary in difficulty. In addition to various routes, participants can warm up by a bonfire while enjoying juicy, char-grilled hamburgers, hot dogs and hot chocolate. Snowshoes will be available on-site at no charge courtesy of Bearcub Outfitters. The cost to participate is $20 in advance, or $25 at the event. There is no fee for children 12 and under, although every donation is appreciated. For more information, go to ltbhs.com.

A Carriage Ride Through Harbor Springs

Hop on board a Harbor Springs Carriage Ride every weekend. Each Friday and Sunday, you can take tour Harbor Springs by horse and carriage with this new, free service. The carriage loads every 30 minutes near the Pier, New York, and Bar Harbor and also makes stops near Island Bean Coffee Company, Wooly Bugger, American Spoon Foods and Spice Harbor. Harbor Springs Chili Cook Off


For a hot time in the cold winter, visit Harbor Springs for the annual Harbor Springs Area Chili Cook-Off, Saturday, February 19th from 2-4 at the Pier. Amateurs and food-service professionals alike compete for awards chosen by the community that attends. This event is open to absolutely everyone so we encourage you to participate and/or attend!

This year, the event will be partnering with The Harbor Springs Food Pantry to help keep the shelves of food full, throughout the winter. Food pantries throughout Emmet, Charlevoix, and Antrim counties are seeing tremendous growth in the numbers of families seeking assistance. Everyone attending the Harbor Springs Area Chili Cook-Off is encouraged to bring non-perishable items for donation to The Harbor Springs Food Pantry. Food, cleaning supplies, paper products, toiletries, and even pet food, is very much appreciated. Come out for an outstanding event and help a good cause!!
