From the Little Traverse Bay Humane Shelter

Hi Nash here! That's short for Nashville because I used to call Tennessee home, but that didn't work out so well. I am a 2 year old Aussie mix and I was a stray with a sad story. Some teenagers decided to use me for target practice. Fortunately lots of nice people helped me out of that situation. I don't have a mean bone in my body but understandably I am shy around new people and going outside makes me nervous. I need a forever family who will be patient with me. It really boosts my confidence when other dogs are around and I love them! They remind me how to be a dog and so I must go to a home with another dog. Because of my timid nature I am in a foster home and my foster mom will attest that I am housebroken and not destructive when left alone. Once I trust you I am a real love bug and will seek out pets, cuddles, kisses and follow you around. If you are looking for a sweet boy to add to your pack then please set up a time to come and meet me. I will love you forever. Love, Nash.

I may be small right now, but I dream of growing up to be as big as a tiger. My mom tells me that isn't possible even if I have the tiger stripes. Well I don't care, I'm going to dream big anyway. I hope you can see the tiger in me and want to take me home with you. I sure would like to be a part of your family. My name is Mikko and I'm a friendly tiger waiting just for you.

LOKI is our Very Special Pet of the Week.  Loki was found at a gas station in Traverse City during one of the coldest weeks in January. He had an eye infection which led him to losing his left eye.  Later we found out he has an underdeveloped optical nerve which gives him tunnel vision in his right eye.  Loki is extremely loving and playful and he enjoys just sitting on your lap. He is a great cat who would love to be your best buddy. Loki does not do well with other cats so will need to be in a home where he is the one and only kitty in the house.
He also would do best in an adult home where there are no young children.  He does have lots of special needs, but his foster mom and dad say he is a wonderful cat that just needs to find the right home. They have other cats so have to keep Loki confined to one room. They would love to see him in a nice quiet home where he has lots of room to run and play and explore. You can meet Loki at Petsmart this Saturday.  We hope someone will open up their heart and have just the right home for this very special guy. Loki is a mostly white short hair kitty with black markings.  He is a little over a year old. For more information about Loki,  please contact
