Whether you’re looking for a good scare, family fun, or a fall color tour, there’s something for everyone this weekend!

This weekend you can get a good scare at the Northwestern Michigan Fairgrounds, try to collect the ideal poker hand at orchards around Charlevoix, or view the changing colors from Grand Traverse Bay! There’s also a day of fall fun for the whole family in Bellaire, and a few last chances to enjoy a unique night at the Ballpark!
 
Screams In The Dark at the Northwestern Michigan Fairgrounds
Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through October
Come experience the Swamp of Suffering, Grimfell Asylum, Pandemonium and the Haunted Hayride and Trail, all with one $17 ticket for adults, $12 for 12 and under. Or, if you’re not into the big scares, just hit the Haunted Hayride and Trail for only  $7! Masks will be required for all visitors and COVID-19 guidelines will be observed throughout the event. Charlevoix Applefest Poker Run
Through October 12th
In lieu of AppleFest, this event is a new way to support area orchards while enjoying some fall fun! Register at charlevoix.org,  then plan 7 stops before October 12th. At each location, players will receive a card, in an effort to create the best poker hand. Best hand wins $200! Entry is $25 to benefit Apple Fest. Card stops include the Charlevoix Chamber, Charlevoix Farmers Market, Friske Orchards, Royal Farms, King Orchards, Interwater Farmers and Farmer Whites.
 
Inland Seas Fall Color Sail
October 10th and 11th, 2pm and 4pm
The Inland Seas Association is giving you a chance to see the fall colors from the water! On this two-hour sailing adventure, you’ll feel the crisp fall air on your face and observe the beautiful changing trees. You’ll even have the opportunity to help raise the anchor, hoist the sails, and steer the ship… or just sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride. Get your tickets at schoolship.org
 
Fall Fun Day at Grass River Natural Area
Saturday, October 10th, 10:30am-1:30pm, 6500 Alden Hwy, Bellaire
Grass River Natural Area is offering a Fun Fall Day, a scaled down version of their annual Autumnfest. From 10:30 am to 1:30 pm there will be some fun fall crafts outdoors under the Center Pavilion, as well as a Roving Naturalist stationed out at the Cabin by Finch Creek with a mini nature program. The Grass River Center will also be open from 10 am to 4 pm with a naturalist available to answer your latest nature questions. Come any time and enjoy a day at Grass River. Films on the Field at Turtle Creek Stadium
Thursday October 8th through Saturday, October 10th
This is your last chance of the year to catch a movie at Turtle Creek Stadium, after last weekend’s schedule was postponed due to rain. Moviegoers purchase a seating area for just $50 in advance which allows up to six people within a 12’ x 12’ area on the field, where people will have room to socially distance. All movies start at 8:00 pm and the gates open at 7:30 pm. Concessions will be available for purchase.  Thursday’s movie is “Hocus Pocus”, on Friday it’s “Toy Story 4” and the Saturday movie will be “Onward”.  Get tickets at here.
