Catch a touching play at the City Opera House this week, or see some amazing rides in Harbor Springs! You can help Gaylord celebrate their centennial, get a dose of Shakespeare with a Hippie touch at the GT Civic Center, and have a doggone good time in Northport this Saturday!
 
“Tuesdays With Morrie” at the City Opera House, August 10th through the 14th
The story of sportswriter Mitch Albom, and Morrie Schwartz, his former college professor, this play, recounts the two men reuniting as Morrie faces his own mortality as an ALS patient. What starts as a simple visit turns into a weekly pilgrimage and a beautiful lesson in humanity, compassion, and friendship. Get tickets here.
 
Harbor Springs Car Festival, Thursday, August 11th, 5:30-dusk, 
This event at Zorn Park in downtown Harbor Springs typically attracts around 200 vehicles and is free for all entrants and spectators. There is no judging, and the festival is open to all types of cars, trucks and motor vehicles.
 
Gaylord City Centennial Celebration, Saturday, August 15th, Noon-3pm
The fun starts with a parade, which ends at the Open House at City Hall, where there will be an art exhibit, farmers market, police and fire trucks on display, plus, bring something to put in the Centennial Time Capsule! There will be sidewalk sales downtown, great food and more.
 
A Midsummer Night’s California Dream, Saturday, August 13th, 2pm and 7:30pm,                                                           GT Civic Center Park Amphitheater, TC
Set at a 1960’s beach party, this reimagined take on the classic Shakespeare features music by The Beach Boys and The Mamas & the Papas. Presented by Mashup & Rock and Roll Musical. Get tickets and more info here.
 
Northport Dog Parade, Saturday, August 13th, Noon,                                                                                                      Northport-Omena Chamber of Commerce, Northport
This year’s theme is “Alice in Wonderlab, Through The Woofing Glass!” Led by guest star Amy Smart. Line-up starts at 10:30am; parade at noon. Registration is $6. Pre-register here.
