I finally joined a gym a few months ago in an attempt to get into better shape. I've been pretty consistent and have lost about 8 lbs so far, which is fantastic! What is not fantastic is the bacteria I may be taking home with me.
Researchers recently took samples at three different gyms to see just how gross the equipment was and what they found is more than disturbing. It turns out most everything was disgusting and 70% of the bacteria they found was the kind that can make you physically sick.
The most covered pieces of equipment were the free weights, the handlebars on bikes and the handles of the treadmill. Free weights also had about 362 times more bacteria than a toilet seat!
So do your gym mates a favor and wipe down your equipment when your done using it, and do yourself a favor- wipe it down before you use it! See you at the gym!!
