Naomi came to TC Paw as a mostly outdoor cat whose elderly owner couldn’t care for her anymore. It took Naomi a long time just to get used to her foster home, especially with all other foster cats coming and going all the time.
NOW, however, as the only foster cat, Naomi is friendly and interactive. We knew she was in there, and she comes out more every day. She gets on the sofa with her foster family in the evening, approaches them for petting and purring, and plays energetically with toys. Naomi has soft fur, a beautiful face, and a sweet, tiny voice.
Sometimes after breakfast, she stands in the window and talks to something out there. She’s an enthusiastic eater who loves squeezy tube treats more than anything else. You can clip her claws if you keep the treats coming.
She’ll press her head into your hand for ear and chin rubs and start up her rumbly purr. In a quiet, adult home where she gets affection and treats, Naomi will bloom into a lovely, gentle companion cat.

TC Paw Cat Rescue was formed in the Spring of 2023 after the well-known northern Michigan rescue group AC PAW retired their rescue program for cats and dogs. Their mission is helping cats and kittens in the greater Traverse City region through rescue, spay/neuter, fostering, adoption, education and community collaboration.

Are you looking for some sass with a bit of drool? Well look no further, because Sandy is your girl! Sandy is a 2 year old Newfoundland that is full of spunk. While she may be 2 years old, Sandy has not had much training and still has some puppy energy. She will need someone with patience who is willing to work with her but she does seem eager to please. Sandy loves all people she meets, and loves to spend time playing in the front yard with volunteers. She is still working on walking on a leash, and does tend to pull a bit when she gets excited. Sandy does not do well with cats and can be questionable with dogs.

Hey there! I’m Joker!
Just like my name suggests, I’m always cracking a grin and bringing the fun! I’m originally from Louisiana, where I unfortunately picked up heartworm disease. But don’t worry—thanks to AVAS, I’m heartworm-free now and living my best life running around the yard! I do need to stay on heartworm prevention, so I never have to go through that tough treatment again.
Since I’ve been here at AVAS, I got to go to a foster home to relax and they had nothing but great things to say about me. I’m potty trained, love to play, and I’m a big cuddler! I know my name and come when called, plus I’m all about my toys. I’ll admit—I do have a strong prey drive, so I’m not great with cats, but I’m super friendly with other dogs and think everyone I meet is my new best friend!
I’d do well in a home with older kids or teens who can keep me busy. I love going on long walks and I’m working on my leash skills (I’m food motivated, so teaching me new tricks will be a breeze). I’ve been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped—I’m all set to go!
If you want to swing by to meet me, share a laugh, or hear a silly joke, give the shelter a call at 989-348-4117 or shoot them an email at AVASCares2@gmail.com.
