
It is mid-July and summer is in full swing with five great things to do this weekend.
Mackinaw City will be showcasing some new and classic Mustangs as the 12th Annual Mackinaw City Mustang Stampede takes place this weekend. Registration and check-in will be this Friday from 2 till 7pm. Registration will continue on Saturday from 8 till 9:30. You can see the Mustangs on display from 10 till 4, then, watch as they parade across the Mackinac Bridge at 4:30. Stay in Mackinaw City for the rest of the afternoon to shop and dine and enjoy Music in Mackinaw at Conckling Heritage Park. At dusk, the Spectacular Fireworks Display! For those who love different kinds of art, the 39th Annual Art in the Park will take place in Pennsylvania Park on Saturday and Sunday from 10am-5pm. Artists from all over the United States will be there with close to 120 booths with items ranging from pottery to jewelry, paintings to photographs, and much more. There will be something for everyone, even if they’re a budding art-lover or a seasoned collector of the fine things in life. The show is rain or shine, so come prepared to shop in downtown Petoskey this weekend.
It’s all about live music this Friday at 7:30 with Let’s Sing Taylor – A Live Band Experience at the Kresge Auditorium. This is the ultimate tribute to the music of Taylor Swift. The Second Annual Art Splash in Cheboygan combines juried art and music this Friday from 1:00-7:00pm and Saturday, 10:00am-4:00pm. This two-day fine art festival will be held on a public, grassy lot on Main Street, just a few steps away from the Saturday morning Farmer’s Market. There will be prizes for best in show $300, 2nd place $200, and 3rd place $100. In addition, there will be many art-related activities in town including onsite workshops, live music, walking the Cheboygan Art Trail and a children’s art project at Ottawa Art Park.
Emmet County Parks and Recreation will be hosting the Cruise-In Car Show at the Emmet County Fairgrounds on Sunday from 10 till 1pm. The gates will open at 9 AM for vehicle registration. No pre-registration. Admission is free for the general public, though, participants will be required to pay a $15 fee per vehicle entered. Trophies will be awarded with door prizes given out throughout the day.
