If you are looking for a new furry family member for your home, please consider adopting from one of our area shelters. There are thousands of pets each year in Northern Michigan who lose their family for one reason or another. Rescue is love!

Cherryland Humane Society

Hi! I’m a chatty, one year old named Cam! I’m all about snuggles, games, and exploring every nook and cranny. My days are packed with fun, and I love making my human friends laugh with my goofy antics. Whether we’re playing fetch or just cuddling on the couch, I’m happy as long as I’m with you. I’m a loyal buddy who’s always ready for our next adventure or quiet time together. Looking for a forever friend who’s playful, loving, and always entertaining? I’m your guy! Let’s make endless memories together!

Cherryland Humane Society is a private, no kill animal shelter servicing Grand Traverse and Leelanau counties. We are an independent, 501-C, non profit organization. CHS is dependent on donations, fundraising activities, estates, planned giving, memorials and occasional grants for operation. Visit our available pets online at cherrylandhumane.org

TC PAWS

We have a BONDED pair this week with TC Paw Cat Rescue: Lucy and Molly. Lucy is a domestic medium adult spayed female, 2 years old. Her sister, Ethel is same.

Lucy and her sister Ethel were found living outdoors in a garage this spring. They had been there all winter, fed by a neighbor.

Lucy has gone from being terrified to seeking attention. The more outgoing of the two, Lucy is a sweet, gentle cat who likes to lick your fingers.

She’s not sure about new places and people, but with time to adjust and a gradual introduction, she’ll be comfortable in a quiet home. She likes kids and other cats. Lucy loves her sister Ethel. They’re a bonded pair who need to find a home together.

If you are interested in adopting these TC Paw cats or would like to set up a meet-and-greet, please complete the  Pre-adoption Application .

TC Paw Cat Rescue was formed in the Spring of 2023 after the well-known northern Michigan rescue group AC PAW retired their rescue program for cats and dogs. Their mission is helping cats and kittens in the greater Traverse City region through rescue, spay/neuter, fostering, adoption, education and community collaboration.

Northern Purr Cat Rescue in St. Helen (Roscommon County)

Meet Taz and Ashton! Tax is a senior gal at 12 years old looking for a quiet home. She is not a fan of dogs and has not been around cats. Her purrfect home would be an older couple or someone that will let her be the queen of the castle. She is ok being left alone. Taz does like to play. She is not a lap cat but will be close by to keep you company and will let you know when she would like attention.

Ashton is a sweet boy that loves to be pet.  We don’t know his story but he is ready to start a new chapter with his furever family.  He is neutered and vaccinated.  Once settled he will be your buddy and hang with you whenever he can. Look at those big beautiful eyes.  How can you say no to his requests?

Contact: Cathy Cleland with Northern Purr Rescue 989-387-1011.

Charlevoix Humane Society

Meet the tiny but mighty Homer! Homer is a senior male Chihuahua that’s on the search for a new home. Homer came to us as a stray so we don’t know a lot about his history but his goofy spirit won us over fast.

Homer doesn’t let his small size stop him from living his best life. In his spare time he volunteers as our office dog, keeping our laps and spirits warm with his goofy smile. He’s a senior but is still active and would do well going on regular walks.

We think Homer would be okay in a home with other respectful dogs, we are unsure how he feels about cats. If you’d like to meet this little guy please call the Charlevoix Area Humane Society to set up an appointment to meet him.

Adopting a pet from the Charlevoix Area Humane Society not only changes the life of an animal but also enriches your own life in countless ways. If you would like to adopt one of our dogs or cats, you will need to fill out an application and once it is approved, we can then set up an appointment for a visit. Please call 231-582-6774 with any questions.

Little Traverse Bay Humane Society

Hi there! I’m Mattie May, a little lady with a big heart looking for my forever home. I’m a small, short-haired brown Chihuahua with a gentle spirit and a love for cozy spots and kind people. I may be tiny, but I’ve got a whole lot of love packed into this little body. I warm up best with kindness and patience, and once I feel at home, I’ll stick to you like peanut butter on toast! I enjoy peace and quiet, and I’m happiest when I’m curled up next to someone who understands how special little dogs like me truly are. If you think we might be a match, I’d love to meet you. I’m ready to find my human, maybe it’s you?

With love and tail wags,
Mattie May

The Little Traverse Bay Humane Society is at 1300 West Conway Road or online at LTBHS.com. They are a private, no kill shelter serving Emmet County.

AuSable Valley Animal Shelter

Have you been waiting for the perfect astronomical and astrological event to occur so you can find the perfect dog? If so, look no further! Why? Because my name is Eclipse — and I’ve been waiting to be the total eclipse of your heart!

I get pretty passionate about the stars aligning, because I know they will… and when they do, I’ll land in my perfect home! My name is—well, I already said it—but let me say it again: Eclipse. I’m a 2.5-year-old large Lab mix. The shelter didn’t get to meet my mom and dad, so they’re making an educated guess on my breed. But one thing’s for sure: I’m a good boy!

I’ve been neutered, vaccinated, and I’m up to date on my heartworm testing. I seem to have had some training in my past, too—I walk nicely on a leash, and I know how to sit, give my paw, and stay.

Although I may have had some training, I don’t think life was always kind to me before I arrived at AVAS. It might take me a moment or two to warm up to new people, but once I do, I’ll show you all the things I can do—and as I said, I’ll totally eclipse your heart.

I’m working on making new dog friends here at the shelter, and I’m still figuring out how I feel about those mysterious creatures that meow.

I’d love to meet you! You can stop by the shelter Tuesday–Saturday, 10 AM–6 PM. If you have any questions, email my friends at AVAScares2@gmail.com or give them a ring at 989-348-4117. I hope to meet you soon!
