The weekend will soon be here, and it has a few names: Presidents’ Day Weekend, Valentine’s Day Weekend, and Free Fishing Weekend. Whichever you choose to call it, you’ll have options, for sure, for a fun-filled weekend.
Let’s start with Downtown Petoskey’s Winter Wonderland Weekend, Friday through Sunday, 9AM – 6PM each day. This event will feature ice sculptures, ice carving demonstrations, downtown shopping and sidewalk sales, and free Carriage Wagon Rides. On Feb 14th, enjoy the Bumpjump race at the Petoskey Winter Sports starting at 10am. Then, spend the afternoon skating, sledding, & playing hockey. Then make your own cardboard sled & participate in the Cardboard Challenge! Also, a Petoskey Chili Trail. Multiple downtown hotspots will serve free chili samples on Feb 15th from 3-4pm. We always like to mention shopping a store with a door. You can do exactly that at the Charlevoix Indoor Sidewalk Sales, Friday through Monday, Starting 10AM each day in Downtown Charlevoix. You’ll enjoy countless bargains and more on a variety of great merchandise at participating stores. Take advantage of substantial reductions on seasonal inventory that must go. Shoppers will find great discounts on gift items, home decor, clothing, books, art, jewelry, accessories, and more. It is free fishing weekend, as I mentioned earlier, so have fun at the Fife Lake Annual Ice Fishing Derby on Saturday, starting at 7AM at 211 E. State Street in Fife Lake.
This event falls on the Free Fishing Weekend, which means there is no license required. $1,000 Grand Prize & Big Catch prizes for pike, perch & walleye for adults & children – youth anglers – 2-17 yrs. old. Love will be in the air this weekend as we celebrate Valentine’s Day on Saturday. So, why not have a date night and head over to the Valentine’s Day Date Night Dance at Castle Farms in Charlevoix from 5:00 to 6:30 PM. Skip the crowded restaurants and celebrate Valentine’s Day with a date night dance. Finally, Beulah’s Annual Winterfest on Saturday. It is an all-day event from 10AM-8PM in Downtown Beulah. There will be a cookie sale, snowmobile poker run, frozen turkey bowling, chili cook-off, horse drawn wagon rides, snowball target throw, frozen fish toss, parade, valentine contest, outhouse race, fireworks & more.
