Name: Buddy
Info: Male, 8 year
Days At the Shelter: 84 days
Meet Buddy, a sweet and soulful 8-year-old hound who experiences the world nose first. Shelter life has him feeling a little unsure right now, so he may need some time to warm up, but once he does, he’s a total softie who thinks he belongs right in your lap. Buddy is a true sniffing expert and loves taking his time discovering all the interesting secrets the world has to offer. He has an independent streak and is looking for a hound-experienced home that will let him move at his own pace and appreciate him just the way he is. Buddy is an excellent communicator and isn’t afraid to share his thoughts with a classic hound AWOO! He has the potential to live with respectful kids, confident cats, and may do well with other dogs. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with plenty of personality and hound charm, Buddy might just be your perfect match.
Guess what? Hillary is going home soon! Thanks for all of your help in promoting our furry friends looking for forever homes.

This week’s Pet of the Week is Gypsy! Gypsy has now been with us for over a year,
The name’s Gypsy and it’s just so great to meet you! I’m a 3 year old Shepherd mix who found my way here after being in a giant facility downstate where there were way too many dogs. The nice staff here at the shelter opened their doors to me and gave me a nice place to stay, and I have to say, I like it much better here. The staff here tells me I’m “quite the character” whatever that means. I’m the fastest girl around and love speeding through the backyard, sometimes I even go so fast I forget where I’m going and have found myself crashing into something or other. That’s okay though, I get right back up and I’m ready to run again! My dream human would be someone who is very active, like me. I’d love to go for walks and hikes and I’d even give swimming in the lake a shot if they let me. My past is a bit of a mystery, but what I do know is that I do not care for most other dogs and have a high prey drive so no cats either, so a home where I am the only pet is best for me. I am mostly housebroken and they tell me I do a great job of keeping my kennel clean. Stop by and say hello to me, and maybe we can start our very own adventure together!
If you’re interested in meeting Gypsy, you can set up an appointment by calling the Charlevoix Area Humane Society at 231-582-6774. She can’t wait to meet you!

Fred was found stray, living outside. A kind neighbor put heated cat houses out for him and contacted us to help. We were not sure if Fred would be friendly, but he was! Poor Fred had severe gingivostomatitis and was chronically in pain. He has since had all of his teeth extracted and has a clean bill of health from the vet. Fred was initially frightened, in pain, and unsure of us. He is now full of love, muffins, and purrs. Fred loves to eat, and his lack of teeth is not a problem. He even loves dry food. He isn’t sure about being picked up or carried, but he loves to be brushed and petted and is a sweet, snuggly guy.
If you would like to meet to adopt Fred, go to our website at www.tcpaw.org and fill out a pre-adoption questionnaire. A TC Paw volunteer will contact you.

AuSable Valley Animal Shelter

Hey Everyone! My name is Bianca, and the staff named me this because.. I’m the Queen Bee!
A little bit about me, the staff wasn’t kidding when they gave me this name because well, I like to beeeee in charge! I am roughly 1 year old, and I’m a medium mixed breed girl – weighing in at about 50lbs. I’m spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and I’m up to date on my heartworm testing! That’s right, I’m good to go, and ready for my new home!
As I said, I like to be the Queen Bee when it comes to other dogs. I want to be the center of your world. That being said, I might do well living in a home with another dog, provided my new family takes the time to slowly and properly introduce me to my new home and my new furry siblings. I shouldn’t be given all of the freedoms right away – I should earn them slowly to help me remember I’m part of a family and not flying solo any more. I also might do well living with a cat, given a proper introduction and time to warm up to them.
If you would like to meet me – stop by the shelter Tuesday-Saturday 10am-6pm. If you have questions give my friends a shout at AVASCares2@gmail.com or reach them by phone at 989-348-4117. Hope to see you soon!

Meet Arthur – Your Sweet & Shy Sidekick
Arthur may not be the loudest dog in the room, but he just might be the one who steals your heart.
This handsome terrier mix weighs about 30 lbs and is fully grown at 5 years old — the perfect age if you’re looking for a dog past the puppy chaos but still full of life and love.
Arthur came to us after his previous owners moved and were unable to take him along. Big changes can be hard, and he’s taken some time to adjust, but underneath that shy exterior is a truly sweet and gentle soul.
About Arthur:
• Approximately 30 lbs (full grown)
• 5 years old
• Sweet and shy personality
• Selective with other animals
• Would do well with older children
Arthur may take a little time to warm up, but once he trusts you, you’ll see just how loving and loyal he can be. He’s the kind of dog who forms a deep bond with his people and would thrive in a calm, patient home where he can build confidence at his own pace.
If you’re looking for a quiet companion with a tender heart, Arthur might be your perfect match.
Reach out to learn more or schedule a meet-and-greet with Arthur. His forever home could be just one visit away.
