New warning about Benedryl for your dog.

The age old recommendation for dogs  who have an allergic reaction is to give them Benedryl. It is effective, fast acting and safe. From bee stings to plant reactions, Benedryl works. (Suggested dose… 1mg per pound)
I keep a bottle of the pink tablets in my dog first aid kit at all times. But…. not all Benedryl is safe. They have started to add the artificial sweetener Xylitol to Benedryl Gel Caps. And Xylitol is poisonous to dogs, deadly poisonous. A couple of pieces of sugarless gum digested by a dog can be fatal in just a few hours.
So please be aware. Your dog’s life could depend on it.
