As we head towards the second weekend in July, there is no shortage of fun in nothern Michigan.

First on our Weekend Fun Five list, the 60th Annual Gaylord Alpenfest, now thru July 12th. Thursday will feature the Ladies Ankle Competition, Men’s Knee Competition, Bike & Trike Parade, Stone Throw Contest, Ice Cream Social, Gaylord Community Productions, and Family Tradition Band. Start your Friday with a Pancake & Sausage Breakfast… then, the Pet Parade, Book Tasting, Alpen Idols Finals, Spam Carving, 2025 Alpenfest Queens Pageant, and Mega 80s entertainment. Saturday will wrap it all up with the Alpenfest Run – 10K, 5K, 1 Mile Fun Run, Grand Parade, Grand Traverse Pipes and Drums, Petoskey Steel Drum Band Concert, Walking Tacos, Mysty Blues, Line Dancing, Main Street Soul.

If you are looking to get away from it all this weekend, the 43rd Annual Blissfest Music Festival, Friday thru Sunday at 3695 Division Rd., Harbor Springs. Festival-goers enjoy being outside on the expansive lawn, in the shade of the woods, and feeling the breeze from nearby Lake Michigan. Don’t forget to look up! You can enjoy sunsets, watch the moon rise or set, see the Milky Way from the Back 40 campground, and you might get lucky and see the Northern Lights over the Main Stage. The festival will feature performers like Lindsay Lou, Elephant Revival, Jig Jam, Harry Manx, The Mammals, Henhouse Prowlers, Galactic Sherpas, The Vermeers, & many more. Classic car enthusiasts will enjoy the South Arm Classic Car Show this Saturday from 10AM-3PM at East Jordan’s Memorial Park. Spring Street will be lined with bright, colorful cars of days gone by. There will also be food, music & more.

If you enjoy arts and crafts, you love the 56th Annual Charlevoix Art & Craft Show, Saturday and Sunday, 10AM-6PM, East Park & Bridge Street in downtown Charlevoix. This year’s show has something for everyone, offering an exciting mix of fine arts and hobby crafts. Acrylic and oil paintings, sculpture, hand-blown glass beadwork, pottery, baskets, furniture, clothing & accessories, hand-woven rugs, and quilted works are just a few of the things you will find. It is a spectacular representation of craftsmanship and artwork with many fun and unique products to choose from.

And finally, if you’d like to keep it simple, and enjoy and a Saturday evening of local shopping, dining, and fireworks, Mackinaw City’s Spectacular Fireworks Display Show starts at dusk.
