Fun for the Final Weekend in May

Baseball, Bass Festival, Fireworks, Fiber Fair, and farmers markets are what’s in store for the final weekend in May!

This Friday will be the season opener for the Traverse City Pit Spitters, so come out and celebrate the start the 7th season! There will have face painters, live music, photobooths, and Friday fireworks! Stop by and support your local Pit Spitters!

For sixty-nine years, the Mancelona Bass Festival has been a local favorite! Going on now thru Sunday, the festival will feature loads of fun with kids games and activities, fishing tournament, carnival, flea market, craft show, vendors, food, entertainment, car show, chicken barbeque, corn hole, raffle and more.

If you enjoy fireworks, you’ll love the display in Mackinaw City. While you are visiting Mackinaw City and doing a bit of shopping and dining, take some time to see the Spectacular Fireworks Display at dusk, around 9/9:30.

For those who enjoy farm to table ingredients, stop by one of the local farmers markets!

  • Elk Rapids Farmers Market, every Friday, Cedar Street Parking Lot from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m., with a wide selection of locally grown fruits and vegetables, fresh flowers and plants, baked goods, cheese, meats and fish, jams, maple syrup, local honey, coffee and tea, lavender products and so much more!
  • Petoskey will be holding their first farmers market of the season on Friday from 8:30am till 1:00 pm. Get local foods and see what vendors will be at the market this year.

 

And finally, the Fiber Fair will be at the Emmet/Charlevoix County Fairgrounds this Saturday 9am-5pm and 9am-3pm on Sunday. This event will celebrate Michigan’s natural fiber, farmers, processors and skilled artisans. There will be over 40 fiber and textile vendors including indie dyers, knitters, weavers, and farmers! Fiber animal petting zoo including yaks and alpacas! Workshops on knitting, crochet, weaving, needle felting, yarn dyeing, spinning wheel maintenance, and more!
