Healthy Food Myths

Do you ever feel overwhelmed when shopping for your family? There are so many food facts and pieces of advice on what to eat and what not to eat it can be really confusing. There are a lot of food “myths” out there that most people fall for.
For instance, organic food is healthier- true? Actually it’s false. Organic foods are grown without synthetic flavors, colors, sweeteners, most preservatives and toxic pesticides and fertilizers, and have not been genetically modified, but they are not necessarily more nutritious.
How about this myth- Sea salt has less sodium. This is false as well. There are several varieties of salt available, but one isn’t better for you. Using words like “natural” can be deceptive. Gram for gram sea salt contains just as much sodium as table salt.
There are other food myths like dark bread is better than white, red wine is good for you, all natural means healthy, and brown eggs are more nutritious than white eggs.  You can learn more about these and the facts here.
