Best Friend vs. Husband

I have known my best friend since fifth grade. We have the kind of friendship where we can go for months without talking and then pick up right where we left off. We know exactly how the other will react to a situation and we totally understand each other’s feelings and thoughts. Whether it’s good news or bad news she is the first person I go to because I know she will listen and have great advice. She won’t judge me or try to fix things, she will just let me be me. On top of all of that I don’t think I’ve ever laughed harder with anyone else in my life.
Now you might be thinking….you’re married right? Isn’t your husband your best friend? Yes I am and yes we are close, but I am closer to my friend than I am to him. I’ve known her longer, I can tell her anything and she understands my anxiety and other issues because she relates to it. It doesn’t mean I don’t consider my husband my friend or that I can’t talk to him.
If you feel the way I do you are not alone. A new survey found just over half of women say they’re closer to their best friend than their husband.  Why?  Here are 10 reasons:

  1.  We can talk about everything
  2. She listens better
  3. I can tell her things I couldn’t tell my partner
  4. We like more of the same things
  5. We laugh until we cry
  6. I can really be myself around her
  7. We go back much further
  8. She gives better advice
  9. She’s less annoying
  10. We have a lot more in common
