Festive Shopping, Holiday Treats, and a Party to Wrap Things Up!

The holidays are kicking into overdrive this weekend! But in the festive frenzy, I’ve also found a few ways for you to save  time so you can still relax and enjoy the company of family and friends……So Ho Ho Ho….Let’s Go!

Grab your girlfriends and head downtown for a festive night of shopping in Downtown Traverse City this Thursday from 5-8pm!! Check items off your gift list, and find inspiration and ideas for those hard-to-buy for relative and friends! Plus, enjoy holiday refreshments, carolers, and even free gift wrapping, located on the J Smith Walkway between Pangea’s Pizza and Kilwins, courtesy of the TC Skating Club and Evergreen YASC!

You’re invited to bring the whole family to the charming village of Alanson this Friday from 2-8pm for a night of Holiday cheer, featuring a chili cookoff. Several businesses will be serving up free chili, and you can vote for your favorite! Judging begins at 6, with the winner announced at 7pm.

Got more shopping to do? Check out the “Sip and Shop Holiday Bazaar” at Veterans Park Pavillion in Boyne City this Friday night! This is a special event hosted by the Boyne City Farmers Market- From 5-8pm, browse local artists, food makers & holiday decorations while enjoying local wines, beer and cocktails,  Holiday music, small plates & more.

And, this weekend is the weekend for Holiday Cookie Sales across the area—but I couldn’t narrow it down to just one, since these two are BOTH so popular! The ladies of Old Mission always bring out their best recipes! Cookies are $12 a dozen, and boxes will be provided so you can select your own assortment. The sale starts at 8am at the Peninsula Township Hall, and runs until the cookies sell out, which happens pretty fast, so come early! All proceeds benefit local non-profits. Then, there’s the Trinity Lutheran Church and School Christmas Cookie Event…this is also Saturday, starting at 9am in the Trinity Lutheran School Gym in Traverse City. You can shop an amazing array of traditional and Old-World favorites. They say more than 23-THOUSAND cookies will be on sale until supplies last-that’s a lot of flour, butter and sugar!  Call 231-941-3487 for more information.

And, lastly, how about a little help to wrap things up? There’s a Holiday Gift Wrapping Party at the Leland Public Library on Saturday from Noon-3pm. Bring a roll or two of wrapping paper presents while enjoying cookies & warm beverages. The library will provide extra paper, ribbons, bows, tape & scissors. There will also be helpers who have offered to wrap for you if you don’t have time to stay.
