Lavender to vinyl… time to add to your collection.

This weekend has something fun for every hobby…. from gardening to history, record collecting to biking, you’ll a way to enjoy the day. It’s going to be a great weekend, so hop in the car, take a ride and find something new!

If the kids have outgrown their bikes or maybe you’re ready to jump back on, don’t miss the Recycle a Bike Sale, Saturday, May 18, 9-1pm at the Old Town Parking Deck on 8th Street in TC. The R-A-B Bike Swap is for anyone who wants to sell and/or purchase an unused or out-grown bicycle or bike accessory. Accessories include bike trailers, hitches, bike racks and sometimes frames and wheels. R-A-B requires that all bicycles be in ride-able condition. If you are selling a bike, drop off is between 6 and 8 pm on Friday, May 17 at the Old Town Parking Deck. Sellers receive 75% of the proceeds and the Recycle-A-Bicycle program receives 25%.

Craft Fair season is underway, and this weekend, you can browse to your heart’s desire at the historic Grand Traverse Commons. The show is  Sat May 18, 10-3pm. Browse Michigan vendors offering jewelry, art, crafts, food & more. Great for all ages. Free

If you’re ready to add some fragrant lavender to your garden, this weekend is Lavender Hill’s annual plant sale. They have many different varieties of lavender and can even help you pick the right plants for your needs. Looking for some new vinyl? Then check out Crate Dig Pop Up Record Sale at Beards Root Cellar (under the main Beard’s Brewery in downtown Petoskey) and enjoy some tasty craft beers while you shop for records. Find that album you’ve been looking for and discover other gems while you dig. Additionally, djs Ya?ob & Franck will be on the turntables spinning choice selections of tunes and other ‘background’ beats.

Take a walk through history at the Civil War Re-enactment, Saturday 9-5pm in Grayling.  Step back into the past. Stroll through the camp of a Michigan Regiment to see what life was like for soldiers on the front lines of the Civil War. Watch as Union and Confederate soldiers engage in battle. observe the Michigan Artillery in action as they fire their cannons. Witness their camp living arrangements and food preparations. Engage in conversation with the Soldiers. Great event for family, educational.
