Pet of the Week 2025

If you are looking for a new furry family member for your home, please consider adopting from one of our area shelters. There are thousands of pets each year in Northern Michigan who lose their family for one reason or another. Rescue is love!

Little Traverse Bay Humane Society

Meet Eddie, our sweet and spunky Terrier/Pibble mix who’s just over a year old and 100% good boy! Eddie is a young pup with a big heart—he seems to enjoy kids, is always up for a walk, and has the most adorable habit of carrying his favorite toys along for the ride. He’s got the perfect mix of playful energy and loving companionship, and he’s ready to find a forever family to share it with. Come meet Eddie at LTBHS and see just how special he is.

The Little Traverse Bay Humane Society is at 1300 West Conway Road or online at LTBHS.com. They are a private, no kill shelter serving Emmet County.

Cherryland Humane Society

Hi, I’m Alvin! I’m a young fella about 8 months old and full of energy and curiosity. I love exploring every nook and cranny, often finding myself in the goofiest of situations. I’m quite the independent guy, but I love a good play session. You should see me chase after a toy mouse, it’s quite the spectacle! I can be a bit shy at first, but once I get to know you, I’m as loyal as they come. I promise to fill your life with laughter, love, and lots of playful antics. So, why should you adopt me? Well, I believe every home needs a dash of Alvin-style fun and loyalty! I have potential to live with other cats as long as our introductions are slow and proper.

Thank you so much for your support in finding our furry friends forever homes!

Cherryland Humane Society is a private, no kill animal shelter servicing Grand Traverse and Leelanau counties. We are an independent, 501-C, non profit organization. CHS is dependent on donations, fundraising activities, estates, planned giving, memorials and occasional grants for operation. Visit our available pets online at cherrylandhumane.org

TC PAWS

Trixie
Tabby / Domestic Short Hair
Small Adult Female (spayed)
1 year old

Trixie has quite the story! She was found living on her own, suffering from stomatitis that made her mouth hurt. Eating was painful, and she weighed less than 5 pounds! TC Paw got her the help she needed, and now she can eat like a champ and has steadily gained weight. Trixie takes medication, but the vet is hopeful she won’t need it in the future. She is VERY affectionate. Trixie loves to have her head scratched and to curl up on your chest with her head snuggled under your chin. She purrs so loudly when that happens.

One thing she does not like, though, is having her belly rubbed. When Trixienaps, she likes to be under something – covers, a blanket, the couch, or the bed. Her foster family calls Trixie a “cave kitty.”

She is playful and active. Trixie’s favorites are dangly toys and the red laser dot toy. Sometimes she gets over-stimulated when she plays, and might nip or grab your arm and bunny kick.

Active playtimes throughout the day should help with this. A home without little children is best for Trixie. She likes to be with people. When she first meets you, she can run and hide, but will come right out for attention as soon as she thinks it’s safe.

Trixie likes the other cats in her foster home. They play together, and would love a cat pal in her new home. However, she doesn’t like dogs. She is afraid of them. Trixie will be a terrific girlfriend in a quiet home with an experienced cat family that can read cat signs.

TC Paw Cat Rescue was formed in the Spring of 2023 after the well-known northern Michigan rescue group AC PAW retired their rescue program for cats and dogs. Their mission is helping cats and kittens in the greater Traverse City region through rescue, spay/neuter, fostering, adoption, education and community collaboration.

From the Charlevoix Humane Society

Hi guys, I’m Moose! As you can probably see from my pictures, I just love toys!! You’ll always find me with a toy in my mouth, they are so awesome! I’m about 9 months old and still have my puppy energy in case you hadn’t noticed. Everything just makes me so excited! Sometimes I just get so excited that I can’t control myself and my lack of manners comes out during those times…. I’m trying so hard to work on it though. I bet having my very own human would really help me learn to be my best self. I found my way here from the streets of Saginaw with my brother Jett, and I must say, I like it much better here. I love to go for walks with the volunteers that stop by, and I’ve heard them say that I do pretty good on a leash… whatever that means. I also do pretty well at keeping my kennel nice and clean and I’m totally open to the idea of being housetrained. I’m a nice playful guy and I’d love to meet you!

From AuSable Valley Animal Shelter

Hi there! My name is Sabrina – Sabrina Bark-Penter to be exact! That’s right, I look just like the real-life Sabrina Carpenter, I even have blonde hair just like her – I’m so pretty!

A little bit more about me, I am a medium mixed breed girl, I’m roughly 3 years old, and I weigh in at a slim 47lbs. I’ve been spayed, I’m vaccinated, microchipped, and I’m up to date on my heartworm testing!

To be honest with all of my new friends, my start to life was not all that it should have been, but I’m working on my next chapter – looking forward to starting it in a loving home like yours! I am a very outgoing girl, with lots of kisses and snuggles to give! I’m a great leash walker, I am learning my manners, I am very smart & food motivated! I would do best in a home without other dogs, or cats. I am a little bit of a wiggle butt, but I have a gentle spirit – I’d likely do well in a home with children that are stable on their feet. I love to run and play in the yards, and I would love an active home that can help me keep my girlish figure!

I am available to meet you, anytime Tuesday–Saturday from 10am–6pm – feel free to bring some tasty snacks. If you have questions about me, or any of my idol’s hit songs – please reach out to my friends at AVASCares2@gmail.com or by phone at 989-348-4117. Hope I get to meet and jam with you soon!
