
We are well into August, and summer doesn’t seem to be slowing down in Northern Michigan. Here are five fun events happening this weekend…
If you or your kids have that inner pirate that need to have fun say ARRRG to the Boyne City Pirate Fest, this Friday and Saturday. On Friday, the Invasion at 7pm. Pirates invade Treasure Town, USA by way of a Crazy Floatilla led by the 95′ schooner Madeline & the Little Traverse Bay Ferry. The Pirates will disembark behind Boyne City’s Sunset Park & start their search for the treasure. Enjoy live music by The Remedee under the tent from 6-11pm. There will be a costume contest at the Eagles Club at 6pm. Saturday includes the Pirate Fest Parade at 10am; begins in SOBO, travels down Lake St., & ends at Veterans Park. Cap’n Kids Fair runs from 11am-3pm in Old City Park. Pirate River Raft Adventure, noon-6pm. Non-stop street shows beginning at noon: sword swallowing, acrobats, escape artists, & more. If art is what you enjoy, stop over to East Park in downtown Charlevoix for the Charlevoix Waterfront Art Fair this Saturday from 9am till 6pm. Many of the nation’s finest artists and craftsmen will be coming to the Charlevoix Waterfront Art Fair to exhibit their best works. These have been chosen from hundreds of applicants who subject their work to the jury. The art fair has a reputation with critics and collectors alike for the quality of the work exhibited and the unparalleled location. The focus of the fair to bring fine arts and crafts to northern Michigan. Stop by and see and maybe take home a piece of one of a kind art.
Speaking of fairs, the Cheboygan County Fair. This Friday will feature Chayce Beckham on the Grandstand stage at 7pm. Finally, if you enjoy a good car show, the 2nd Annual Cruise & Bellaire Car Show will be on Friday and Saturday in Bellaire at M-88 and Broad St. On Friday, the cruise line up will be at 5pm at St. Luke’s Church; depart at 6pm, followed by live music by Joe Domanick at Fireside Lounge at 7pm. On Saturday, registration for the car show will be from 8-10am. The car show will start at 10am, with the awards with trophies, 2:30pm.
