It is hard to believe that we are half way through August. With that said, we still have a few more weekends before Labor Day weekend and still time to enjoy our Up North summer!
If you’d like to start the weekend off with a concert indoors, country music artist, David Nail, will be performing at the Odawa Casino in Petoskey. Doors open at 7pm and the concert will start at 8pm, and the show is not sold out yet. So, tickets are available at OdawaCasino.com.
Perhaps you and your family would like to spend a Friday evening in Mackinaw. You can enjoy an evening of shopping and dining in Mackinaw City, then stop by Conkling Heritage Park at 8pm for music and relaxation with some ragtime piano with Bob Milne as a part of the Music in Mackinaw outdoor concert series. Then, wrap up the evening with the Spectacular Fireworks display at dusk.
Charlevoix Summer Sidewalk Sales are going on Thursday through Saturday, 9AM-6PM each day in downtown Charlevoix. Take advantage of great deals on a variety of seasonal inventory that must go. Merchants will be out in force with great sales to reduce inventories before the fall season. Shoppers will find great discounts on gift items, home decor, clothing, books, jewelry, accessories and so much more. So shop early for the best deals!
Now, there is one northern Michigan event that is all about the duckies… rubber duckies that is… The 38th Annual Rubber Ducky Festival & Parade will be held on Saturday, starting at 7:30 in the morning in beautiful Bellaire. The festival includes a 3v3 basketball tournament, Quackapalooza, art & craft show, merchant sidewalk sales, music downtown on Broad St. with Andy Grefe, Grand Parade & Rubber Ducky Race at 3pm, ice cream social & music at Richardi Park with Jelly Roll Blues Band, & much more. A complete schedule of events can be found at BellaireChamber.org
Also on Saturday, the Great Lakes Children’s Museum’s 25th Birthday Bash will go from 10AM-4PM. It’s hard to believe, but The Great Lakes Children’s Museum is officially turning 25 years old, and they will be celebrating at The Curiosity Place inside the Grand Traverse Mall. They’re planning a full day of FREE family fun to mark this special occasion. The event will feature special programs, crafts and activities like stilt-walkers, special crafts and programs, for kids of all ages, and making your own birthday cake…because what’s a party without cake? This celebration is their way of saying “Thank You” to the families, educators, volunteers, donors, and partners who have supported us over the years and to welcome new friends into the museum.
Have a fun, safe weekend!
