
It will be the unofficial end to summer in northern Michigan, but no end of fun! Between Arts & Crafts, Car Shows, and Bridge Walks, you’ll find it to be a great Up North Labor Day Weekend!
First, a weekend of cars in Boyne City with the Kiwanis Boyne City Labor Day Weekend Car Show, this Friday and Saturday. On Friday, classic cars will be lined up on the 100 & 200 blocks of Water Street during Stroll the Streets from 6 till 9pm. Don’t forget the stay for live entertainment, shopping and dining. Then on Saturday, the judged car show will take place in Veterans Park, along with the farmers market. Registration will open at 8am on Saturday morning, judging will begin at 10am and prizes will be announced at about 2pm.
Another car show will be in Traverse City. The Elks Lodge Car Show at the TC Elk Lodge #323, Saturday, from 11am till 2pm. The ELKamino Car Show has free admission for spectators and the lodge open to public. There will be classic cars, food, music, and patio fun. $20 per vehicle entry and proceeds support TC Elks Lodge.
For those who enjoy arts and crafts, the 31st Annual Elk Rapids Arts & Crafts Show will take place on Saturday from 10am till 4pm, in downtown Elk Rapids, located on River Street. It will be featuring over 60 artisans and crafters. The show features art and homemade items in many areas including coastal art, home decor, jewelry, ceramics, woodcrafts, photography, skincare products, candles, soups, apparel, specialty food and much more. It will be a day of local live music and craft beer at the Minnie-ha-ha Brew-ha-ha Music Festival this Saturday starting at 11AM at Arcadia Marine. It is all about local music and brews, featuring three music stages with fourteen local bands, 60+ craft brews, food trucks, kid’s activities and 5K & 15K races. Camping at the festival available. Last but certainly not least, you can take a stroll across the Might Mac during the 2025 Annual Mackinac Bridge Walk, Labor Day, from 7am till 11:30am. The Mackinac Bridge will be closed to public traffic from 6:30 a.m. to noon on Monday. No bus transportation across the bridge will be provided as part of the event. Walkers who decide to walk across the entire bridge will need to arrange their own transportation back to the end of the bridge where they started. There is no fee or registration. The walk begins at 7 a.m. and no one will be permitted to start after 11:30 a.m., so make sure you arrive early. You will receive a numbered bridge walk certificate at the completion of your walk.
