Marty McFly is a big-hearted, big-bodied sweetheart looking for his forever home. At 95 pounds, he’s a strong and playful boy with a soft side-and he’s not afraid to show it. He’s known to lean in for pets, climb into your lap (yes, all 95 pounds of him!), and charm everyone he meets with his goofy grin and wiggly tail. Marty is friendly and social with people and loves making new friends. He’s been called a “total babe” around here, and we agree. His playful energy and intelligence make him a fantastic companion for someone who wants a dog with personality and potential.
What Marty Loves:
Exploring the world through his super sniffer
Making new human friends (he’s a total social butterfly)
Learning new things-he’s smart and eager to please!
Leaning in for cuddles and attention
What Marty Needs:
A dog-savvy, experienced home that understands big, strong dogs
No cats or small children (he’s just too much dog for them!)
Continued training-he’s got tons of potential and thrives with structure
Possibly a dog friend who can match his playful, enthusiastic energy
Someone who appreciates a dog with drive and heart
If you’re ready for a lovable, loyal, and seriously smart companion, come meet Marty McFly. This big goofball might just be your perfect time-traveling sidekick.
TC PAWS
This week, we have a bonded pair of kittens, Reggie and Shila.
Reggie came to TC Paw from a TNR situation. A feral mother cat and her four-week-old kittens were living in a crawlspace. The mother was released, and the kittens were placed in a TC Paw foster home. Reggie was friendly from the start. He’s a mellow cat who purrs readily and plays with his littermates and the toddler and teens in his foster home. He doesn’t hide from people or activity, and he likes to be around the other cats. Small cat toys and long hair are his favorite playthings. Reggie’s only dislikes are the family’s two small dogs. Reggie hisses at them when they came near. Otherwise, he’s an easy-going guy who will be a great pet. Reggie’s foster family welcomes home visits from applicants who want to meet him in his home setting.
Shila also came to TC Paw from a TNR situation and is bonded with Reggie. Shila arrived at her foster home hissing and hiding, but it took only a day for her to warm up to the toddler and teens in her foster home. She likes being held and petted and being with other kittens, but she’s content on her own too. Her foster home has two small dogs that Shila prefers to avoid. The foster family welcomes home visits from applicants who want to meet Shila in her home setting.

Meet Maureen (left) and Izzy (right). These girls are bonded and need to stay together.
Maureen was a skinny stray living around and under the deck of a Kewadin residence whose owners called TC Paw and said they thought she and the other cat with her had been dumped nearby since they hadn’t seen the cats before. Maureen is a friendly, confident cat who looks you right in the eye. She kind of flirts with you by rolling on her back when she wants something. Really cute. She’s a pretty cat with a mane around her face, a bushy tail, soft fur, and eyes that go from gold to green in different light. She’s quick on her feet and likes to stand on shoulders or chair backs to be close and observe. She uses her scratching post regularly. Maureen loves attention. Pick her up and hold her to your chest, talk to her, and let her curl up in your lap. She looks out the window and chatters at birds. When she’s hungry, Maureen will nibble and lick the ends of your fingers. Maybe it’s a behavior left over from being a hungry stray that will fade when she’s confident that there’s plenty of food.
Izzy made herself right at home with her foster family. She has a loud purr, and she likes to be picked up and held. She has beautiful green eyes, a shiny tortoiseshell coat, and an orange spot on her rear paws. She’s quick on her feet, uses her scratching post, likes to stretch out, and enjoys exploring high, low and small spaces. When it’s naptime, she finds a quiet spot. Possibly because she was so hungry as a stray, Izzy has a big appetite and will finish a slower cat’s food. Her foster intervenes, and we think this behavior will fade as Izzy gets more confident that there’s plenty of food.

This big, sweet pup is Woody! Woody is a great pyrenees mix who arrived at our Shelter last January as a tiny puppy along with the rest of his littermates. Unfortunately things didn’t work out with his adopted family, and he recently found his way back to the shelter due to no fault of his own. Woody can be a little cautious of new people at first, but once he gets to know you, you’ll be covered in kisses in no time! With a fondness for toys, treats, and beds, you can consider Woody pretty easy to please. He walks great on a leash, and is good at keeping a clean, tidy kennel. Woody seems to do well with most other dogs, and would likely do okay in a home with cats. If you’re in need of a partner in crime, Woody is your guy! Stop by the shelter to meet him!
Adopting a pet from the Charlevoix Area Humane Society not only changes the life of an animal but also enriches your own life in countless ways. Oh, hey – didn’t see you there – glad you moseyed on by to say hi! My name is Indigo – and moseying is what I do best, when I’m not playing with my other doggy friends!
I am a medium mixed breed girl, with the cutest underbite you’ll ever see. I am roughly 1-1.5 years old, I weigh in at about 45lbs, I have been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and I’m up to date on my heartworm testing. I’m ready for my new home!
A little bit about me – not much is known about my past life since I was brought in as a stray. I am a chill girl that loves other dogs, and all people – adults and kids. I could probably get used to those things that meow, if given an appropriate introduction. One thing my doctor wanted me to mention is it appears that I might have had an accident that caused some damage to my left hip – I don’t really remember it but the doctors have examined me fully, and completed x-rays. I seem to have zero pain in this area, and it doesn’t cause me any issues with day-to-day activity including running, jumping, or playing with my friends.
Since I’ve been here at AVAS, I’ve gotten to enjoy all the fun things in life, playing with other dogs and making new human friends!
Recently, I went out with 2 of my new human friends for a day trip! I went to the dog park, and the ice cream shop! My new human friends had the best things to say about me! Here’s what they said: I am very gentle, I walk amazing on a leash, I have excellent manners when meeting new human friends – I don’t jump or try and knock anyone over, I don’t seem to mind car rides, I enjoyed pup cups, I was wonderful with little kids, and other dogs – overall, they said, my behavior was REMARKABLE! They also said, if they could, they would have adopted me without any hesitation.
I’m hoping someone out there is reading this, and thinks I’d be the perfect puzzle piece fit to their family! When I’m not playing with other dogs at the shelter, or going for fun day trips – I’d love to meet you. I am available at the shelter Tuesday – Saturday 10am-6pm. I hope you stop by and see me soon!
