TC PAWS
Amelie
Domestic Short Hair / Calico
White, gray and tan
Small Female (spayed)
1-2 years old
When Amelie came to TC Paw with her three kittens, she was a frightened, feral cat. We kept her in a cage with her kittens, planning to find homes for them after they were weaned and to spay, vaccinate, and ear-tip Amelie and return her to her colony.
However, she developed a severe infection requiring surgery and antibiotics, and during the time we treated her, it was evident that, though shy, she enjoyed human contact. She is a sweet, gentle, loving girl who is more comfortable every day with being an indoor pet.
Amelie is still shy and will need a calm, adult home with a soft-hearted owner who will give her time to gain confidence. Amelie’s foster mom says, ” As her foster (and veterinarian) I want Amelie to be placed in a forever home. She deserves it. It will take a special home – a quiet and patient home, but given time, she will be a lap cat.”

TC Paw Cat Rescue was formed in the Spring of 2023 after the well-known northern Michigan rescue group AC PAW retired their rescue program for cats and dogs. Their mission is helping cats and kittens in the greater Traverse City region through rescue, spay/neuter, fostering, adoption, education and community collaboration.
Northern Purr Cat Rescue in St. Helen (Roscommon County)
Meet, Willow (gray) and her bonded fabulous feline friend, Lilith (brown tabby) ❤️ These two long fur ladies are bonded. Both kitties need a new home OR foster together, since their current human was facing a new housing situation and could not keep them. Willow is 3 years old and Lilith is 4 years old. Both kitties are spayed, up to date on vaccines and indoor. They’re affectionate, playful and love to be together bird watching or lounging in the sunshine. They would do well in a quiet home or someone experienced with indoor kitties.

This scruffy face belongs to Benji! Benji is a Terrier, possible Wire Haired Griffon mix that we believe is around 3 years old. Benji came to us as a transfer from down state so we don’t know much about his background. What we do know is that he is a gentle sweet boy who needs a family to call his own! Benji can be very nervous when meeting new people, but quickly warms up and loves scratches and kisses on the nose once he decides to trust. We believe he is house trained to some extent because he typically keeps his kennel quite clean, but we are unsure if he knows any commands. He is working diligently on leash training with our volunteers, but will need some time to really get the hang of it. Benji is very cautious of other dogs, but may do well in a home with other calm dogs that can help him build his confidence. We are unsure of how he would do with cats and small children.
Adopting a pet from the Charlevoix Area Humane Society not only changes the life of an animal but also enriches your own life in countless ways. If you would like to adopt one of our dogs or cats, you will need to fill out an application and once it is approved, we can then set up an appointment for a visit. ‘m Bella, a nearly 7-year-old German Shepherd with a big heart, a gentle soul, and plenty of love (and tail wags!) to give. I’ve got that perfect mix of maturity and playfulness – I’m past the puppy chaos, but I still enjoy my walks, a good squeaky toy, and sniffing around the backyard like it’s my job (because it kind of is). I adore being around my people – I’m the type to quietly curl up by your feet or follow you from room to room just to keep you company. I’ve mastered all the important stuff like house manners, basic commands, and being a very good girl. All I need now is a loving home where I can shine. I’m spayed, up to date on all my shots, and my heart is wide open – just waiting for the right person to walk in and say, “She’s the one.”
The Little Traverse Bay Humane Society is at 1300 West Conway Road or online at LTBHS.com. They are a private, no kill shelter serving Emmet County.
AuSable Valley Animal Shelter
Greetings! My name is Loki – pronounced like “Low-Key” but I’m far from “Low-Key” – I mean – just look at me – I’m way too handsome to be considered average and ordinary.
Anyways, let me tell you all about how above average I am! I am a 2-year-old – medium mixed breed dog, weighing in at roughly 40-45lbs. I am muscular – I work out! I am vaccinated, up to date on my heartworm testing, and microchipped. Here in the next couple weeks, I’m scheduled to be sterilized!
My back story is a little fuzzy – I found myself at Detroit Animal Care and Control – as a stray. I was very stressed and uncomfortable there, they were running out of room, and reached out to AVAS for help. Since I’ve arrived at AVAS – I’m a total social butterfly – with both humans and other dogs. I love everyone! I love to play! I love to run! I would do best in a home with another dog, as they will help keep me toned and fit – and also be there to remind me when my humans aren’t around – that I’m not alone. I should mention that I don’t know how I’d do with those things that meow, but maybe given a slow & proper introduction, I might be okay. I’d probably do better in a home w/ kids stable on their feet because my energy gets the best of me and I’d hate to knock anyone over.
When I’m not playing with my friends here at the shelter, or letting my human friends cradle me like a baby, while I fall asleep, I’d love to meet you! The shelter is open Tuesday-Saturday 10am-6pm. If you have questions, reach out to my friends at AVASCares2@gmail.com or by phone at 989-348-4117. I hope we get to meet soon!

Tex is the goofy, silly boy of the bunch. 1 of 4 puppies born here at the shelter, Tex is ready to go to his foster home just like his siblings. Although these babies are ready for fosters, their adoptions cannot be finalized until they are neutered. Tex, just like his siblings is still all puppy at 3 months old. They do need time, adjustments, training (manners and potty) and love. These puppies will play all day and nap just as hard! Although these puppies have been with their siblings, they haven’t interacted with other dogs so they will require a meet and greet with any other dogs in the home. Just remember, these puppies will still turn into dogs so if you’re thinking about adopting a puppy, they are small now but are expected to be around 50 pounds when fully grown.
