Hi! I’m Marina, a bundle of joy wrapped in fur. Every day, I fill the shelter with laughter with my goofy antics and clever tricks. I’m the first to greet anyone with a friendly purr and a playful pounce.
Curious about everything, I often lead adventures around my temporary home, bravely exploring every nook. I’m also the perfect cuddle buddy, always ready to snuggle up after a day of fun. Looking for a loyal friend who’s sweet, funny, and full of life? I’m your girl! Let’s make endless memories together!
While I love my people, I’d prefer to be the only kitty in your life!

TC PAWS

This week, we have a bonded pair of kittens: Bernie & Milton. Bernie and Milton came to TC Paw when a kind woman asked us for help with a feral mom and kittens she found. We placed the kittens in a TC Paw foster home. It took a few days for Bernie, the one with the little white patch on his chest, to trust his people, but now he is more interested in them all the time. He’s a sweet, adventurous, playful little guy who purrs whenever you walk in the room, as well as when he eats. He loves playing with his brother and dragging his toys around. He gets along with other cats, and he’s warming up to the foster family’s dog. His likes include teaser toys and closet hiding places. His one dislike is an empty food dish. Bernie may not be quick to trust, but earning his purr is worth it.
Milton was initially a shy, uncertain kitty, he has grown in confidence and shows his affectionate side more every day. He is playful, adventurous, and sweet. He purrs instantly when you hold and pet him, though he doesn’t like forced snuggles. He does like Churu treats and teaser toys. Milton gets along with other cats, and he’s warming up to the family dog. He and his brother Bernie are a bonded pair that we feel should stay together.

Meet, Willow (gray) and her bonded fabulous feline friend, Lilith (brown tabby) ❤️ These two long fur ladies are bonded. Both kitties need a new home OR foster together, since their current human was facing a new housing situation and could not keep them. Willow is 3 years old and Lilith is 4 years old. Both kitties are spayed, up to date on vaccines and indoor. They’re affectionate, playful and love to be together bird watching or lounging in the sunshine. They would do well in a quiet home or someone experienced with indoor kitties.
Also…

Shayne is a grey tabby, spayed, rabies vaccinated, and combo tested negative. She has a head tilt that doesn’t seem to bother her or cause her pain and the vet did nit find anything wrong. She is friendly, rubs against your leg and wants pets! Shayne talks a little but haven’t seen her play with any toys. She was a good mom and raised her kittens. Now it is time she gets to be someone’s indoor kitty.

Meet our super sweet pet of the week Leila! Leila is a young female husky and pit mix who is searching for a cozy home with plenty of treats and toys.
Leila came to us with her brother Rocky in September (who has been adopted!) and she’s been a huge sweetheart since day one. Leila is a very sweet and affectionate girl who’s always happy to go for a walk or play a game of fetch. She’s a very social gal who opens up to new people quickly and we think she would be an amazing family dog, but since she is so young she’s still working on her puppy manners. A home with lots of love and people ready to work with her, we think Leila will blossom into a wonderful member of the family.
Leila would likely do well in a home with cats and older children. We are unsure of how she would do in a home with another dog, but so far her behavior in the shelter has indicated that she’d be open to a doggy sibling.
Leila is currently spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. If you’d like to meet her or fill out an adoption application please reach out to the Charlevoix Area Humane Society. We’re open Monday-Saturday from 12-5.
Adopting a pet from the Charlevoix Area Humane Society not only changes the life of an animal but also enriches your own life in countless ways. If you would like to adopt one of our dogs or cats, you will need to fill out an application and once it is approved, we can then set up an appointment for a visit. Please call 231-582-6774 with any questions.

Hi there! I’m just a tiny 2-month-old pittie pup with a big heart and an even bigger personality. I may be small now, but I’ve got dreams as big as my ears – and oh, did I mention I’m deaf? Don’t worry, though – I don’t let that slow me down one bit! I’m all white with the cutest little black mustache spot (I like to think it makes me look extra sophisticated… or at least very kissable). I love to play, snuggle, explore, and learn – and I’m already figuring out how to understand the world in my own special way. Being deaf just means I’ll need a family who’s ready to help me learn using hand signals, patience, and lots of love. In return, I promise to be your most loyal, wiggly, mustache-wearing sidekick ever. Come meet me – I’ve got a whole lifetime of love and tail wags to give!

AuSable Valley Animal Shelter

Hi Friends! My name is Rocket! I’ll get straight to the point – I’m handsome, smart, and I’m here sending out a signal that I’m ready to find my furever home!
I am an almost 6.5-year-old, male, Alaskan Malamute, please don’t confuse me for a husky – while we have a lot of similar qualities – I’m convinced that being a Malamute is where it’s at! I weigh in right at about 90lbs, and I’ve been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and I’m up to date on my heartworm testing.
I am looking for a furever home that understands large breeds like me, and is aware of my grooming needs – I’m a high maintenance dude and I’ll need lots of spa days every year! I should also mention that kids, cats, and other dogs aren’t really my style. I’m an independent man that’s looking for humans to call my own, and hoping there is a home out there that will let me embrace my independence and share a life with you. I’m not the type of dog that’s constantly seeking out your affection. While I enjoy long walks, lounging in the backyard, and treats, I just want to be a companion. I’m a strong & silent type of guy. I’m very smart, and I will work for food. I’m potty trained! A low activity household where I can lounge around and prepare to enjoy my golden years would be a dream come true for me. Like my name suggests, I’m a rocket shooting for the moon, but willing to land amongst the stars.
I am available to meet Tuesday – Saturday from 10am-6pm. If you have questions about how much I shed, or what my boundaries are – please reach out to my friends at AVAS. Email them at AVASCares2@gmail.com or by phone at 989-348-4117. I hope I get to meet you soon!

Breed: Jack Russell Terrier mix
Age: 10 and 7 years
Sex: Female
Color: White/Black/Brindle
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
This senior mother daughter duo don’t let their size or age slow them down. These amazing girls came in with our ACO’s, after being left to fend for themselves locked in a house for months at a time. These girls are definition of resilient. Although they lacked socializing, interaction, comfort or basic necessity, they are the sweetest girls. Oreo, who is estimated around 10 years old and Snickers, estimated 7 years old are 14 and 17 lbs respectively.
They are still re-learning manners on and off leash but these girls are ready to go whenever you are. They are energetic, bouncy, happy go lucky and are adjusting to life with the freedoms of being talked to, played with, walked and allowed to be in our fenced in yard. Don’t let their age fool you, both these girls love to play and engage with people, they will settle down for some relaxation but they still think they are just puppies with the want to go on adventures. Snickers and Oreo are a bonded pair and have been with each other since Snickers birth. They go together, are always happiest when the other is in view.
They have not had the greatest few years of their life and we are excited to see what the rest of the years have in store for these girls. Due to the circumstances of Snickers and Oreos arrival we’re not sure on their whole background. We’re not sure how they would do with other dogs (although they have interacted through the fences here at the shelter and we haven’t had any issues) a proper introduction here at the shelter is required. As for kids, they will need to meet anyone in the household but especially the kids. We’re sure that Snickers and Oreo will do great with anyone because they are so lovable and full of life but we just want the best for the girls and their adopters and not knowing if they have ever been around kids, we want to be sure they are the right for everyone.
