Cherryland Humane Society

Meet Ash and Minnow. Their days are filled with gentle cuddles and curious explorations. Ash has an independent streak, but cherish time with Minnow. They share a bond that comforts and strengthens both. They may a bit shy at first, but once they warm up, they’ll be the friendliest of companions. They are looking for a forever home where they can bring sweetness and loyalty. They will fill your home with love and gentle purrs. They are looking for a quieter home where we can spend the rest of our lives together. Please ask the shelter about their medical needs.
Cherryland Humane Society is a private, no kill animal shelter servicing Grand Traverse and Leelanau counties. We are an independent, 501-C, non profit organization. CHS is dependent on donations, fundraising activities, estates, planned giving, memorials and occasional grants for operation. Visit our available pets online at cherrylandhumane.org

This week, we have a bonded pair of kittens. Say hellow to Bernie & Milton
Bernie and Milton came to TC Paw when a kind woman asked us for help with a feral mom and kittens she found. We placed the kittens in a TC Paw foster home.
It took a few days for Bernie, the one with the little white patch on his chest, to trust his people, but now he is more interested in them all the time. He’s a sweet, adventurous, playful little guy who purrs whenever you walk in the room, as well as when he eats. He loves playing with his brother and dragging his toys around. He gets along with other cats, and he’s warming up to the foster family’s dog. His likes include teaser toys and closet hiding places. His one dislike is an empty food dish. Bernie may not be quick to trust, but earning his purr is worth it.
Milton was initially a shy, uncertain kitty, he has grown in confidence and shows his affectionate side more every day. He is playful, adventurous, and sweet. He purrs instantly when you hold and pet him, though he doesn’t like forced snuggles. He does like Churu treats and teaser toys. Milton gets along with other cats, and he’s warming up to the family dog.

Meet, Willow (gray) and her bonded fabulous feline friend, Lilith (brown tabby) ❤️ These two long fur ladies are bonded. Both kitties need a new home OR foster together, since their current human was facing a new housing situation and could not keep them. Willow is 3 years old and Lilith is 4 years old. Both kitties are spayed, up to date on vaccines and indoor. They’re affectionate, playful and love to be together bird watching or lounging in the sunshine. They would do well in a quiet home or someone experienced with indoor kitties.
Also…

Shayne is a grey tabby, spayed, rabies vaccinated, and combo tested negative. She has a head tilt that doesn’t seem to bother her or cause her pain and the vet did nit find anything wrong. She is friendly, rubs against your leg and wants pets! Shayne talks a little but haven’t seen her play with any toys. She was a good mom and raised her kittens. Now it is time she gets to be someone’s indoor kitty.

Say hello to Theo!
Theo is a ten month old mixed breed puppy who found his way to our shelter after being surrendered alongside three of his littermates. Theo can bound his way into anyone’s heart with his endearing puppy antics. He has lots of love and excitement to share with the world! If you’re in need of a playmate, look no further, Theo is the pup for you. He will gladly spend all day outside adventuring and playing with his toys. Theo also enjoys playing with his siblings, so we think that he has the potential to do well in a home with another dog that could keep him entertained.
If you’d like to meet Theo or fill out an adoption application please reach out to the Charlevoix Area Humane Society. We’re open Monday-Saturday from 12-5.
Adopting a pet from the Charlevoix Area Humane Society not only changes the life of an animal but also enriches your own life in countless ways. Hi, I’m Gomez!
I’m a 2-year-old, goofy, food-motivated pup who’s had a tough last six months, but I’m ready for a fresh start and a family to call my own. Even with everything I’ve been through, I’m still full of love, hope, and puppy-like enthusiasm.
Positive reinforcement is my love language. Show me a snack and tell me I’m a good boy, and I’ll happily learn whatever you’d like. I already know sit and stay, and I train really well with treats. I still get a little too excited at mealtime, but who can blame me?
At night, I’ll “kennel up” for bedtime-sometimes a tiny treat helps-but once I’m in, I settle well. I’m also potty trained and go to the door (or give a little whine) to tell you I need to go out.
I adore my humans and want to be close to them as much as possible. If it were up to me, I’d curl up on your furniture all day, but I’ve been practicing staying off the couch and using my dog bed instead. I’m smart and eager to please, so consistent cues help me learn fast-my foster family saw huge progress in just a week.
I’m super playful with both dogs and humans. I’m still in “puppy mode,” and sometimes I get a bit rough or nip during play, but I listen well to corrections and respect boundaries. I got along great with my foster family’s dog, though no one’s quite sure yet how I feel about cats or other small pets.
On walks, I might start off bouncy, but after a quarter mile, I relax into a good rhythm. I’m still learning to be brave in the dark-nighttime noises can spook me a bit-but with some kind encouragement, I manage just fine.
I’m also working on polite house manners, like staying out of the kitchen when people are cooking. I’m strong-willed, but when you pair consistency with treats, praise, and scratches, I blossom. More than anything, I just want to make my people happy.
After a rough stretch, I’m so ready for a loving home. If you’re looking for a loyal, energetic, affectionate companion who will give you his whole heart, I think we might be the perfect match.
The Little Traverse Bay Humane Society is at 1300 West Conway Road or online at LTBHS.com. They are a private, no kill shelter serving Emmet County.

Hi Friends! My name is Rocket! I’ll get straight to the point – I’m handsome, smart, and I’m here sending out a signal that I’m ready to find my furever home!
I am an almost 6.5-year-old, male, Alaskan Malamute, please don’t confuse me for a husky – while we have a lot of similar qualities – I’m convinced that being a Malamute is where it’s at! I weigh in right at about 90lbs, and I’ve been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and I’m up to date on my heartworm testing.
I am looking for a furever home that understands large breeds like me, and is aware of my grooming needs – I’m a high maintenance dude and I’ll need lots of spa days every year! I should also mention that kids, cats, and other dogs aren’t really my style. I’m an independent man that’s looking for humans to call my own, and hoping there is a home out there that will let me embrace my independence and share a life with you. I’m not the type of dog that’s constantly seeking out your affection. While I enjoy long walks, lounging in the backyard, and treats, I just want to be a companion. I’m a strong & silent type of guy. I’m very smart, and I will work for food. I’m potty trained! A low activity household where I can lounge around and prepare to enjoy my golden years would be a dream come true for me. Like my name suggests, I’m a rocket shooting for the moon, but willing to land amongst the stars.
I am available to meet Tuesday – Saturday from 10am-6pm. If you have questions about how much I shed, or what my boundaries are – please reach out to my friends at AVAS. Email them at AVASCares2@gmail.com or by phone at 989-348-4117. I hope I get to meet you soon!
Cheboygan County Humane Society

Breed: American Pitbull Terrier Mix
Age: Estimated 5 years
Sex: Male
Color: Brown and White
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Busta came to CCHS from some help of our friends in Otsego county. Busta was “picked up” on I75 and brought to them as a stray. Although we don’t believe that Busta was actually a stray or found on the side of the road, it doesn’t change the fact that his owners never came back for him. Busta loves the car and did phenomenal on his car ride back to Cheboygan.
Although a big boy at 65 lbs, Busta really wanted trainer Tracy to know that he is still a lap dog! He loves to be around people, is always accepting of your attention and is all around a goofy boy. We’re not too sure how old Busta is but we’re estimating around 5 years. Although he barks at other dogs, Busta hasn’t reacted at any of them, just makes his presence known so we’re sure with the proper introduction, meet and greet and time he will do well with other dogs.
Again, we don’t know his past so as far as his history with cats or kids, we’re not too sure. Based on his size however, kids that can understand that he can knock them over and not hold it against him would likely be best for him. Busta is still waiting on his neuter but that doesn’t stop us from accepting applications for his adoption. Busta will make the best big boy lap dog!
