Info: Female, 3 years old
Days At the Shelter: 56 days
Meet Zuri, a beautiful 3-year-old tortoiseshell with a big personality and clear opinions. Zuri prefers not to be picked up and would do best in a calm, dog-free home. She can be bashful around strangers at first, but offer her a Churu treat and you’ll win her heart in no time. Sweet, sassy, and full of charm, Zuri is looking for a home that respects her boundaries and appreciates her unique personality. Please ask about her medical needs when applying.

Meet Lexi!
While Lexi gets along with other cats with a gentle introduction, she would thrive best in a peaceful, adult-only home. Experienced cat owners will appreciate her unique personality and needs. Although she tolerates dogs, her ideal environment is one where she can reign as the sole pet.
Lexi is a beautiful 5.8-year-old calico. If you’re ready to provide a loving home for this sweet talker, visit www.tcpaw.org to fill out a pre-adoption questionnaire. A TC Paw volunteer will contact you. Take the first step toward welcoming Lexi into your heart.
If you would like to meet to adopt Lexi, go to our website at www.tcpaw.org and fill out a pre-adoption questionnaire. A TC Paw volunteer will contact you.

Meet Rue!
This sweet little girl came to us as a transfer from another shelter that was out of space. Since arriving, Rue has opened up immensely with our kennel staff. While she can be wary with strangers upon first meeting, she has nothing but love to share once she warms up to them. So long as they offer cookies and scratches, Rue could come to love just about any new face in time. Once she finds her people, she’s attached at the hip. In the past, she has shown some separation anxiety in a home setting, and would benefit from lots of attention and snuggle time from her favorite humans. Rue seems to be mostly house trained and does her very best to hold it when possible. She even knows how to sit and is proud to show it off! We are unsure how Rue would be in a home with cats or other dogs as she hasn’t had very extensive exposure to either in her time with us. But staff thinks she may have the potential to adapt to them under the right circumstances.
If you’re looking for a furry friend to keep your lap warm, look no further, Rue is your gal! Stop in and meet her today!
If you’re interested in meeting Rue, you can set up an appointment by calling the Charlevoix Area Humane Society at 231-582-6774. She can’t wait to meet you!

AuSable Valley Animal Shelter

Hi Friends! My name is Sabrina! In case you didn’t know, the root of my name means patience and endurance and patience is exactly what I’ve been practicing while waiting for my new home.
I came to the shelter last summer because my owner fell on hard times and needed to get some help – so my sisters and I found ourselves looking for new homes. While I was sad at first, I really am looking forward to what’s ahead for me.
A little bit about me, I’m a 3.5-year-old – medium mixed breed gal – weighing in at just about 50lbs. I’ve been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and I’m up to date on my heartworm testing. I love people! I love to snuggle, eat snacks, and soak up all the love you have to offer. I previously lived with other dogs and might be okay living with another dog again – provided I meet them first, to make sure we’re a good fit. Those things that meow though – are not a good fit for me – they are too much fun to chase.
I recently got to enjoy a foster weekend away from the shelter and my foster momma had some great things to say about me. She said I did great in her home with very few accidents, and I really enjoyed being close by her side. I loved sleeping at the foot of the bed and keeping her tootsies warm. I did well meeting new people, and soaked up all the extra attention!
I would love to find my furever home, and if you think I might be a good fit – stop by the shelter Tuesday-Saturday 10am-6pm. If you have questions, shoot my friends an email at AVASCares2@gmail.com or by phone at 989-348-4117. I hope I get to meet you soon!

Meet Beau!
Sometimes life changes in ways we don’t expect. Beau’s world was turned upside down when his family was no longer able to care for him. While it wasn’t the ending anyone hoped for, we’re determined to help Beau find a beautiful new beginning.
Beau is a big, lovable guy with an even bigger heart. He has that gentle-soul energy — the kind of dog who just wants to be near his people, quietly soaking up comfort and reassurance. With his size comes a wonderful presence, but behind those big paws is a sensitive spirit who just wants to feel safe and secure.
Like many dogs of his breed, Beau can be a bit anxious at times. New environments and unfamiliar situations can make him nervous, and he looks to his humans for guidance and calm reassurance. Once he knows he’s safe, though, his sweet personality really shines through. He forms strong bonds and loves being close to the people he trusts.
We do know that Beau has lived with other dogs before and has done well, so a canine companion could be a wonderful source of confidence and friendship for him with proper introductions. He would likely do best in a home that understands large breeds and is willing to give him patience, structure, and lots of love.
Beau will need to be sedated for grooming, as the experience can be stressful for him. This is simply part of understanding his needs and helping him stay comfortable and cared for. With the right home — one that sees his sensitivity not as a flaw, but as something to nurture — Beau will absolutely blossom.
He isn’t looking for perfection. He’s looking for stability. For kindness. For someone who understands that sometimes the biggest dogs have the softest hearts.
If you have room in your life for a loyal, gentle giant who just wants to belong, Beau may be waiting for you. His first chapter didn’t end the way anyone hoped — but his next one could be the best yet.
