PET INFORMATION:
Name: Maui
Info: Male, 4 year
Days At the Shelter: 73 days

Maui is a sweet, loving dog with unique needs who has captured a lot of hearts. While his uncoordinated movements have puzzled the vets, Maui himself doesn’t seem bothered by it one bit. He faces the world with resilience, gentleness, and a whole lot of love to give.

Maui needs a home that understands his challenges and can accept him exactly as he is, no fixing required. He does well with other calm, respectful dogs, as long as playtime stays gentle and not too rough. Because Maui can’t move or play like a typical dog, a home with respectful children is recommended so he can stay safe and comfortable. Maui also has potential with dog-savvy confident cats.

Mau is:
– Incredibly sweet and affectionate
– Special needs, but full of heart
– Dog-friendly with calm companions
– Thrives in a patient, understanding home

Maui isn’t defined by what he can’t do, he’s defined by how much love he gives. If you believe every dog deserves to be cherished just as they are, Maui may be the perfect addition to your family. If you’re ready to open your heart to a truly special dog, Maui is waiting to meet you.

This little gal is Rolo, straight from the bayous of Louisiana. We believe this 4-year-old southern belle was once a mother to a litter of puppies. Though due to her origin, we are unsure of her exact history. Upon arriving at CAHS, Rolo was scared of just about everything and everyone. She had trouble adjusting to the new environment at first. But after some socialization with volunteers and staff, Rolo has made progress in leaps and bounds. Though still shy around new people, she warms up in no time with a bit of patience. And it probably won’t be long before she’s demanding to be carried, or climbing into your lap for mandatory snuggles! Rolo won us all over with her sweet, calm demeanor and quickly became a favorite amongst staff. She is potty trained and does a great job at keeping her kennel clean. Rolo also does well on a leash when she’s comfortable with whoever is walking her. We are unsure how she would do with other dogs or with cats, but think that she would adapt given time.

If you think Rolo sounds like your girl, stop by for a visit! You can set up an appointment by calling the Charlevoix Area Humane Society at 231-582-6774. She can’t wait to meet you!

Little Traverse Bay Humane Society

Hey, I’m Bruce! I’m a 5-year-old brown Shepherd-Lab mix with a big heart, a loyal spirit, and a half tail that wags twice as hard. It might be shorter, but trust me-it gets the message across! I’m smart, friendly, and always ready for adventure, whether it’s a walk, a sniff-around, or a cuddle break. I love being close to my humans and I’m happiest when I’m part of the action. If you’re looking for a devoted, easygoing buddy with classic good looks and a very enthusiastic half-tail wag, I’d love to meet you.

The Little Traverse Bay Humane Society is at 1300 West Conway Road or online at LTBHS.com. They are a private, no kill shelter serving Emmet County.

AuSable Valley Animal Shelter

Hi Friends! My name is Sabrina! In case you didn’t know, the root of my name means patience and endurance and patience is exactly what I’ve been practicing while waiting for my new home.

I came to the shelter last summer because my owner fell on hard times and needed to get some help – so my sisters and I found ourselves looking for new homes. While I was sad at first, I really am looking forward to what’s ahead for me.

A little bit about me, I’m a 3.5-year-old – medium mixed breed gal – weighing in at just about 50lbs. I’ve been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and I’m up to date on my heartworm testing. I love people! I love to snuggle, eat snacks, and soak up all the love you have to offer. I previously lived with other dogs and might be okay living with another dog again – provided I meet them first, to make sure we’re a good fit. Those things that meow though – are not a good fit for me – they are too much fun to chase.

I recently got to enjoy a foster weekend away from the shelter and my foster momma had some great things to say about me. She said I did great in her home with very few accidents, and I really enjoyed being close by her side. I loved sleeping at the foot of the bed and keeping her tootsies warm. I did well meeting new people, and soaked up all the extra attention!

I would love to find my furever home, and if you think I might be a good fit – stop by the shelter Tuesday-Saturday 10am-6pm. If you have questions, shoot my friends an email at AVASCares2@gmail.com or by phone at 989-348-4117. I hope I get to meet you soon!

Say hello to Nikki, our beautiful retired Mountain Cur sweetheart born on 4/22/2017. This lovely lady is ready to trade in her working days for cozy couches, belly rubs, and a forever home.

Nikki is as sweet as they come and absolutely adores attention. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will happily soak up every pet and cuddle, she’s your girl!

About Nikki:
Spayed
Up to date on vaccinations
Microchipped
Sweet, affectionate, and people-loving
Best in a home without cats (she has that classic hunting-dog prey drive!)

Nikki would thrive in a home that understands her breed instincts and can give her the love and attention she deserves. In return, she promises a lifetime of tail wags, warm snuggles, and devoted companionship.

If you’re ready to open your heart and home to a wonderful dog, Nikki is ready to meet you!

TC PAWS

Fred was found stray, living outside. A kind neighbor put heated cat houses out for him and contacted us to help. We were not sure if Fred would be friendly, but he was! Poor Fred had severe gingivostomatitis and was chronically in pain. He has since had all of his teeth extracted and has a clean bill of health from the vet. Fred was initially frightened, in pain, and unsure of us. He is now full of love, muffins, and purrs. Fred loves to eat, and his lack of teeth is not a problem. He even loves dry food. He isn’t sure about being picked up or carried, but he loves to be brushed and petted and is a sweet, snuggly guy.

If you would like to meet to adopt Fred, go to our website at www.tcpaw.org and fill out a pre-adoption questionnaire. A TC Paw volunteer will contact you.
