PET INFORMATION:
Name: Goku

Days At the Shelter: 14 days

Goku is a handsome domestic longhair brown tabby with gorgeous, fluffy ears that give him an extra touch of charm. At around a year old, this former stray has traded in his tomcat days and is ready to find a home where he can truly settle in.

Goku is a very vocal boy who isn’t shy about sharing his thoughts – whether he’s greeting you, asking for attention, or commenting on his surroundings. He’s incredibly affectionate and enjoys being close to his people, always ready for pets and companionship.

Curious by nature, Goku loves to explore and stay involved in whatever you’re doing. He’s the kind of cat who will follow you around, making sure he doesn’t miss a thing. With his good looks, talkative personality, and loving nature, Goku is sure to make a wonderful and entertaining companion for the right home.

Say hello to Theo!

Theo is a one year old mixed breed dog who found his way to our shelter after being surrendered as a puppy alongside three of his littermates who have all been adopted. Theo has now been with us for over half his lifetime and hasn’t had the chance to have a place to call home. We think it is time for Theo to see what wonderful things the world has to offer and to know what it is to have a family to love!

Theo can bound his way into anyone’s heart with his endearing puppy antics. He has lots of love and excitement to share with the world! If you’re in need of a playmate, look no further, Theo is the pup for you. He will gladly spend all day outside adventuring and playing with his toys. Theo also enjoyed playing with his siblings, so we think that he has the potential to do well in a home with another dog that could keep him entertained. Though we’re unsure how he might feel about cats. Because he is young and filled to the brim with energy, Theo would likely do best in a home without young children. He’s working every day on improving his manners. But sometimes meeting new people can be so exciting that he can’t help but jump! Theo has done well with his potty training so far, and tries his very best to hold it for as long as he’s able. He’s sure to be a quick learner with the right person to lend him some patience. Stop by and meet Theo, he would love to be your new best bud!

If you’d like to meet him, please stop by the Charlevoix Area Humane Society anytime Monday-Saturday between 12-5. You can set up an appointment by calling the Charlevoix Area Humane Society at 231-582-6774.

TC Paw Cat Rescue

This week,  we are featuring Kathi.

Kathi is a gentle, sweet, shy kitty, who is blossoming into a braver girl everyday. She loves teaser toys with feathers and high places, so cat trees are a must! Kathi enjoys exploring quiet and calm areas and loves hiding under blankets. But look out for the occasional zoomies and playing with friendly kitty companions, who she also enjoys snuggling with. She’s not yet a lapcat but time and patience may change this.

Kathi is a shy, timid kitty who may hide at first but time, calm acceptance, and, of course, treats and churros are the way to her heart! Kathi gets along well with the family’s older child and other friendly, quiet, and calm cats. She startles at loud noises or fast movements, so active households and/or active and dominant kitties would not be a good match for Kathi.

If you are looking for a gentle companion with a home where Kathi can blossom at her own pace, please complete an application to meet her.

Also, TC Paws has their annual fundraiser coming up in a few weeks… The Cat Lady Fashion Show. They will have a live fashion show, live music (featuring Chris Sterr and Levi Britton), a huge silent action, Delicious food and a cash bar. It will be held at the Milliken auditorium/Dennos Center. More details can be found at CatLadyFashionShow.com.

AuSable Valley Animal Shelter

Hi there! I’m Bandit, an 8-year-old Chi-weenie looking for a new partner-in-crime to help me start my next chapter. I’ve been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. I’m up to date on my heartworm testing.

My past? Glad you asked. I spent many wonderful years with my previous owner, but since they passed away, I’ve been waiting for a cozy couch to call my own again.

My personality? I’ve got the classic low-rider body of a Dachshund and the big, “spicy” personality of a Chihuahua; while I’m a world-class snuggler who loves burrowing under blankets, I definitely have some opinions and will give you a little side-eye if you disturb my nap.

I’m well past the stage of chewing up shoes and prefer a mellow life of sunbeams and short walks, but because I can be a bit sassy when I’m nervous, or when you don’t pick me up correctly. I’d do best in a quiet, adult-only home where my boundaries are respected. I do enjoy time outside and enjoy walks. I need someone patient that understands I really miss my human I had for so long and I spend time looking at the door wondering if they are coming back. I’m sure with some time I’d learn to love you and understand you are my new home.

I may be small, but I have the heart of a lion and a whole lot of loyalty to give to the right person. I might be named Bandit, but the only thing I’m really looking to steal is your heart—could you be the one to give me the second chance I’ve been waiting for? I’m available to meet at the shelter Tuesday-Saturday 10am-6pm. If you have questions reach out to my friend at AVASCares2@gmail.com or by phone at 989-348-4117. Can’t wait to meet you!

Cheboygan County Humane Society

Meet Luna! Luna is a beautiful Karakachan girl looking for her forever home. Born on 11/15/24, she’s already grown into a big, gentle soul at 98 lbs—and still has so much love to give.

Luna can be a little timid at first, but once she warms up, her sweet and affectionate nature really shines through. While her breed is traditionally known for livestock guarding, Luna was never trained for that role and does not display guarding behaviors—she’s simply a loving companion looking for a safe and caring home.

She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations, so she’s ready to go when you are!

Luna previously lived with another dog and did well, though slow introductions are always recommended. A meet-and-greet will be required for any potential adopters with other dogs. We’re unsure how she does with cats. She is reported to do well with children, making her a great potential family companion.

Luna would do best with a patient adopter who can help build her confidence and give her the love she deserves. If you’re looking for a loyal, gentle giant to add to your family, Luna might be your perfect match.

For more detials, go to cheboyganhumanesociety.org. Or stop by the shelter at 1535 Hackleburg Road, Cheboygan. Call 231-238-8221 for more information. Shelter hours are Mon-Fri 9-4pm and Saturday noon-4pm.
